Following the establishment of the LDraw Contributor Agreement in 2004 many authors have helped to re-develop the LDraw Parts that we did not have agreement to redistribute. Of the 90 original "Non-CA" files only 24 now remain and all except three have been re-developed, and are sitting in the Parts Tracker awaiting review. I would like to get these into the next Parts Update to remove the need for this complication in the LDraw library. To help prioritize their review I have added a "Review Summary" page to the LDraw Parts Tracker. This includes the re-worked files and any dependents. It would be good if reviewers could take a look at this and prioritize their activities on these files.

Thanks in anticipation, Chris

The LDraw Standards Committee (LSC) has just unanimously ratified changes to official colour restrictions and specifications.

This means, that:
* Direct colours, i.e. 0x02RRGGBB colour values, are now officially recognized.
* Blended colours, i.e. the 256-512 range, are now officially recognized, albeit obsolete.

The following spec pages have been updated accordingly:

* LDraw 1.0.0 specs: http://www.ldraw.org/Article218.html
* Official part restrictions specs: http://www.ldraw.org/Article512.html

The LSC has just ratified the LDraw.org Parts numbering scheme for parts with unknown numbers.
It should allow to add parts to the library where the part number is not known. As the systematic that is used up to now has reached its limits this change is necessary.

The LSC has just ratified the LDraw.org Localisation Guideline.
It should be a guideline for implementing localisations for the LDraw System of Tools.

Dear contributor to the LDraw System Of Tools,

we would like to include your program in our new LDraw.org All-In-One-Installer, to be published by LDraw.org. You might have already agreed to a similar permission in the past but the LDraw SteerCo's concern is that the permissions have been sent to a personal mailbox and do not have a common wording. The permission template comes in two versions:

* Third Party Permission for a group of authors
* Third Party Permission for a sole owner of all copyright

Please pick the one that suits you most, print, sign and return a scanned copy of the permission.

Many of you will have noticed that recently LDraw.org has been serving pages sluggishly. The main bottleneck appears to be our host's server memory. The Peeron admins want to bring our speed back up to what we all expect and to do this they need to upgrade the server’s memory.

Thankfully, the main server can support additional memory. To double the amount of memory available, Peeron will need to pay a $400 upgrade fee.

Peeron currently gets over 350,000 visitors each month and another 100,000 to LDraw.org. This is more than three times the traffic Peeron.com had when they switched to this server 2 years ago. Hopefully with this upgrade we’ll be able to continue this growth!

Over the past couple of years releases of new official parts have been
less frequent than in the past. LDraw.org would like to apologise or these
delays and explain the reason why.

It has been a year since the last election of the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC). Nominations are now open at LUGNET. All nominations must be received and recorded by July 15. Elections will be held from July 20 until July 25.

The LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) is responsible for maintaining semi-regular internal discussions on pending file format issues, the overall progress of the LDraw file format and new or proposed developments made by different LDraw-based software authors. They adopt new official standards by voting on them, and publish documentation on LDraw.org following such a decision. The LSC has documented and will document past, current and future LDraw File Formats.
